That is a great song. I like Johnny Cash's version as well. I think Marilyn manson might have done a cover as well.
Right you are, Graeme. And welcome back. While I like both Cash and Manson, I don't think either one did the song any justice, although Manson came pretty close.
I guess I should crawl out from under my rock more often, I have never heard this song before. I like it!
I remember when this came out! Don't think I liked it as much then because it was a "major label" release and I was all about indies. But I heard this on the way home from work on the radio and really listened to it, without any of my prejudicial snobbery, and found out it was much better than I had thought earlier.
One of my all time favs. I've loved Depeche Mode since "people are people". (did I just age myself?). I'd never seen this video though. Thanks for posting it.
Dave Gahan put out a decent (IMHO) solo album a couple years ago. The track that got some airplay was "Dirty Sticky Floors".
hasta siempre comandante :)thanks for the video.
Hey PT....sorry....this hasn't a thing to do with anything 'cept I just wanted to thank you for all the restlessness overnight, trying to sleep with images of holes in my roof that the sheep were leaping thru. (I was too disturbed to count 'em. ~grin)
I used to work construction. I know how much damage one man and a drill can do to a roof.
I have ALWAYS loved this song..nice choice dude :)
Thanks, Dusty.
I love this song- and I love Depeche Mode...( and my 15 yr son does too- which is kinda interesting ...)I never knew there was a video....My YouTube won't let me post songs on my blog - or any videos- I don't know why...so please any Depeche Mode...or any other 80's wonders-Enigma? Cars? Human League? oh, hell- you always have great stuff....any music at all....( I keep picture Dada laying there looking at his roof waiting for The Drip to start....I offered to send buckets...a man and a drill=HOLES)
