Somebody Pinch Me, I Must Be Dreaming

New US church leader says homosexuality no sin
WASHINGTON (Reuters)-

Newly elected leader of the U.S. Episcopal Church Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori said on Monday she believed homosexuality was no sin and homosexuals were created by God to love people of the same gender.

Jefferts Schori, bishop of the Diocese of Nevada, was elected on Sunday as the first woman leader of the 2.3 million-member Episcopal Church. the U.S. branch of the worldwide Anglican Communion. She will formally take office later this year.
Interviewed on CNN, Jefferts Schori was asked if it was a sin to be homosexual.

"I don't believe so. I believe that God creates us with different gifts. Each one of us comes into this world with a different collection of things that challenge us and things that give us joy and allow us to bless the world around us," she said.

Full story here.

I think I may have found a new religion. I honestly never thought I'd see the day when a religious leader actually made sense.

Okay here's an old one you may not have heard(as told by an Episcopal Preacher)
Episcopalian is like Catholic Lite. 1/2 the guilt, but just as fulfilling.

I've been to a few Episcopal Churches and everyone I met was truly kind and gentle hearted.

As more people see the threat the Bush Regime's policies present to us, many religous people are coming out of the woodwork. Last year even Bush's Church in Crawford called for an Iraqi pullout.
Peace.

Seconded, brother! I could actually consider attending again if they start preaching the true words of Christ like this again!

Whoa there sparky... At the same conference the American Episcopal Church also drafted a letter to the Anglican Communion apologizing for the election of Gene Robinson as Bishop in New Hampshire.

I think its GREAT.

I had read last week all the hubbub about her being elected, and wondered if there might be a "gay" connection. It seemed odd that they were all bitching about a woman being elected and NOW ity all makes sense LMAO

If we could get some more Xtians to come out and get onboard, perhaps my hatered of mainstream religion would subsied some.

But until then, good for her...

And I don't know after my threatt o Ann COulter, I may be somewhere on that list LMAO I am such the godless Biatch dont ya know hehe

This might actually be a help in getting on toward fulfilling the main directive of Christ, which was something along the lines of feed the hungry and clothe the naked.
Oh, wait, he said nothing about strip clubs. Bad memory.

The power that religion has in the States is alarming, particularily for us europeans.

The motivation for fundamentalist religions seems to be to grab more power rather than to empower and include.

Just as God says sodomy is wrong, He also says women are to keep silence in the church, not asurp authority over a man, and if they have questions about something their Pastor says from the pulpit, they're to ask their husbands about it at home.

Maybe God should keep his nose out of religion, then.
