Time to Give Up

Border Patrol boost raises concerns
By JACQUES BILLEAUD, Associated Press Writer

The U.S. Border Patrol's push to expand the number of agents on the lookout for illegal crossings has some current and former agents worried that the pressure will lead to corner cutting and will jeopardize public safety.

Raising the Border Patrol's numbers from about 12,000 to 18,000 by the end of 2008 is a key element of President Bush's plan to improve security along the border, crossed by tens of thousands of illegal immigrants each year.

When is this country going to realize that their failed attempts at stopping my brothers and sisters from entering this land are futile? The only constructive purpose the border patrol serves is as a rescue force for immigrants wandering around helplessly lost and abandoned by those scum-of-the-earth "coyotes" who they pay top dollar to get them across the border.

If you really despise Mexicans living in your country that much, move somewhere else, or elect Tom Tancredo as your president.

Time to open the borders and let them come in.

What? You think you own this land? Think you have some sort of special privilege because your forefathers massacred the previous owners? Piss off !

Amen brother! But before we massacred all those original owners of the America Southwest, we had to steal from our neighbors to the south all of Texas, California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming in the 1846 war with Mexico.

I get a kick out of history challenged border Minutemen telling me how Mexico plans to steal our country away from us. Obviously, they were much for history when back in school.

Hmmm, I used to think the Mexican government as pretty damn corrupt, but I'm thinking when we here in the American west rejoin that republic, might our corruption take a sudden and huge drop from the current government we presently "enjoy"?

Why do you use a picture of Che Guevara?

Bush speaks out of both sides of his mouth - stop the illegal immigrants, but we need them for plucking chickens. The man is insane. Of course, we should not only welcome newcomers, but provide education and universal health care. To do less would be a crime.

Is peacechick mary aware that China is ready to dump about 100 million Chinese on this country? That is a lot of newcomers!

A 100 million MORE Chinese? That sounds a little high. (I was thinking more in the neighborhood of 80-90 million.)

Oh well, regardless of the number, with the Chinese then making up 20-25% of Americans, maybe that will lessen our tensions with our new Red Chinese cousins across the Pacific, thus reducing our desire to nuke 'em into extinction/oblivion?

An excellent point, Dada. Thanks for bringing that up.

I originally wanted to use a picture of Lao Tzu but the size of the image wouldn't jive with Blogger's template so I went with the Che image instead.

I'm in total agreement with that statement. This country desperately needs universal health care and a decent education system. But why do that when you can waste bilions of dollars on an illegal war?

So you're OK with the Mexicans but you're not ready for the Chinese?

Imagine the army that Emperor Bush could assemble with all these immigrants. Crazy like a fox, that man is. He knows exactly what he's doing.

When you've got leaders of the Democratic Party taking impeachment off the table, well that's practically a mandate to destroy the Constitution and start your own military dictatorship.

I better move to a gated community, that way I'll be safe from these Huddled Masses.
Can you tell I just watched

United Gates of America

United Gates of America is a documentary by journalist Charlie LeDuff. He lived for a month within the Gated Community of Canyon Lake, California to try and discover why people wanted to lock themselves behind gates and fences, and what effect it had on the residents. The documentary also explored the issues of immigration from Mexico and Central America, and highlighted the issues of segregation and racism that exist in the United States. It's very good!

I am not ready for 100 million Chinese. You may be. You can not find
a smaller picture of Lao Tzu?

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely check it out.

This was the only picture I liked and for some reason it wouldn't work. At any rate, I've had the Che image for so long now that I doubt I'd change it. Then again, you never know.

100 million Chinese? Good Gawd! How could that happen? How can we allow people that have work ethics into this country? The HORRA! Maybe we can make a trade. You send what you got, and we will send all the neocons to you. DEAL? Talk about a weapon of mass destruction, get those wingnuts over there and let them run for office! We would have china begging for help in no time.

Or you could help get this moron out of office! ITMFA! HOLLA IF YA HEAR ME!

Don't laugh middle east, we're saving some for you! So here's the deal, start putting some more presure on the nut we have in office, or we will send Condi and Rove to dictate your policy! Get it? Then you will have to "stay the course" and have no way out of it! Then we pull our troops out, and get the last laugh!

Thanks for the laughs bastards! Now you are on your own, like you needed to be to begin with. It's just that simple.

Always wondered why they didn't set the steelplate fence the other way... you know, so you couldn't just CLIMB the thing.

Of course, there's nothing a billion dollar fence can do that can't be undone by a $35 ladder.

Raising the Border Patrol's numbers from about 12,000 to 18,000 by the end of 2008

Perhaps Bush's plan is to have all the new agents stand shoulder-to-shoulder and make menacing faces at would-be border crossers. It's for sure that it isn't going to do much to stop immigration.

now if we could just extend this thinking to animals, no fuck it....the whole earth!, then I'd be in agreement. we don't own shit, it's all in our heads!

I don't think it's Canadians we need to fear. I think it's Americans Canadians need to fear. Canadians may be the next to build a wall. (And who could blame them?);~)

PT, your image of Lao Tzu is holding my tatoo - (just so you can find me in the detention camp)! Dada, not all the original inhabitants of the SW were massacred as 1/16th of my blood attests.

I lived not too many miles from that border "fence" along the san ysidro border. We called it an expensive ladder. It did manage to push the traffic further east into the dead lands. When locals tried to leave out 55-gal drums of water & food & first aid supplies along known routes through the canyons of death, the local authorities came up with a program to remove them in the name of nationalsecurity. Heartless bastards. ~~ D.K.

Hear!! Hear!! I'm all about opening up the borders both north and south and making a United States of North America. Then again I'm a pinko, commie godless disabled history degree owning Buddhist.

Oh yeah and the Mexicans here didn't cross the border. It crossed them.
