The U.S. Border Patrol's push to expand the number of agents on the lookout for illegal crossings has some current and former agents worried that the pressure will lead to corner cutting and will jeopardize public safety.
Raising the Border Patrol's numbers from about 12,000 to 18,000 by the end of 2008 is a key element of President Bush's plan to improve security along the border, crossed by tens of thousands of illegal immigrants each year.
When is this country going to realize that their failed attempts at stopping my brothers and sisters from entering this land are futile? The only constructive purpose the border patrol serves is as a rescue force for immigrants wandering around helplessly lost and abandoned by those scum-of-the-earth "coyotes" who they pay top dollar to get them across the border.
If you really despise Mexicans living in your country that much, move somewhere else, or elect Tom Tancredo as your president.
Time to open the borders and let them come in.

Amen brother! But before we massacred all those original owners of the America Southwest, we had to steal from our neighbors to the south all of Texas, California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming in the 1846 war with Mexico.
I get a kick out of history challenged border Minutemen telling me how Mexico plans to steal our country away from us. Obviously, they were much for history when back in school.
Hmmm, I used to think the Mexican government as pretty damn corrupt, but I'm thinking when we here in the American west rejoin that republic, might our corruption take a sudden and huge drop from the current government we presently "enjoy"?

Bush speaks out of both sides of his mouth - stop the illegal immigrants, but we need them for plucking chickens. The man is insane. Of course, we should not only welcome newcomers, but provide education and universal health care. To do less would be a crime.
Is peacechick mary aware that China is ready to dump about 100 million Chinese on this country? That is a lot of newcomers!
A 100 million MORE Chinese? That sounds a little high. (I was thinking more in the neighborhood of 80-90 million.)
Oh well, regardless of the number, with the Chinese then making up 20-25% of Americans, maybe that will lessen our tensions with our new Red Chinese cousins across the Pacific, thus reducing our desire to nuke 'em into extinction/oblivion?

I'm in total agreement with that statement. This country desperately needs universal health care and a decent education system. But why do that when you can waste bilions of dollars on an illegal war?

He lived for a month within the Gated Community of Canyon Lake, California to try and discover why people wanted to lock themselves behind gates and fences, and what effect it had on the residents. The documentary also explored the issues of immigration from Mexico and Central America, and highlighted the issues of segregation and racism that exist in the United States. It's very good!

This was the only picture I liked and for some reason it wouldn't work. At any rate, I've had the Che image for so long now that I doubt I'd change it. Then again, you never know.

I lived not too many miles from that border "fence" along the san ysidro border. We called it an expensive ladder. It did manage to push the traffic further east into the dead lands. When locals tried to leave out 55-gal drums of water & food & first aid supplies along known routes through the canyons of death, the local authorities came up with a program to remove them in the name of nationalsecurity. Heartless bastards. ~~ D.K.
