Party Time!
We had a few laughs, talked politics and in general, got to know each other a little bit better and, of course, discussed the age-old question..."Why isn't everybody doing this?" We still don't have a definitive answer for that one.
At the end of the day, as the paint dried on the signs and we had one last beer together, I presented parting gifts to my attendees (much to their surprise)...
Voila!
Direct from the Paris runways, the latest in freewayblogging fashion. Why go out to hang signs in the same old drab jeans and a t-shirt? That look is sooo yesterday. If you're going to go out and educate hundreds of thousands of people, do it with flair! You'll look fabulous strutting your stuff on the overpass in this painfully bright orange vest and it has the added benefit of making you look like the guy taking down the signs rather than the one who's actually putting them up.
When I saw Scarlet's video, I thought to myself, "What that guy needs is a professional looking safety vest."
Use those vests, my freewayblogging friends and stay safe out there. I want to make sure we're all able to attend the next painting party.

Wow...what a great party...I would have come...in a heartbeat...
and the VESTS...wow..Hope Dick doesn't come your way and pull a Whitty...
Love the Signs....PT you are the best...
Thanks, E4E. I had been feeling kind of down for awhile. I guess it was the whole non-stop war coverage. It kind of burns you out, you know? This party today did a lot to lift my spirits. I'm looking forward to going out tomorrow morning and getting these signs put up.
Get a Life, loser
I love the one about jesus loving some of you. If jesus is hanging around I bet his lovin' list is getting shorter every time he checks out DC
You guys seem to have such a good time.
Awesome PT!!!
ROTFLMAO Jesus loves some of you HAHAHAHAHA Oh My God thats funny LOL
Love the page, funny shit.
Super duper, PT Cruiser! I love the good feeling goin on.
Me thinks PT has been listening to a whole hell of a lot of RATM. "Arms the Homeless" has always been (and always WILL be) my favorite slogan!
Tom Morello has a hat that says "COMMIE"...I want it! :)
Okay, I've waited to report on the "party" til after I had put up the signs! Up they are (3 of 'em, ran out of bunjees) and now I can hold me head up high as a FREEWAYBLOGGER! A true Scrittore di tangenziale! (That's Freewaywriter in Italian)
Indeed it was uplifting to be among like minded folks, even if it was just me, Scarlet and PT after all this heinous stuff coming over our airways, the news about atrocities (more) in the Middle East.
Thank God we're not Lebaese, eh? But God help the people who are.
PT has a beautiful family, a great back yard for painting signs and all in all, it was a great day and one that must be repeated soon! Maybe my backyard?
Now my signs are on 23rd and Kansas in SF, the Lucky Drive overpass in Larkspur and the entrance to the Freeway 580 going west in San Rafael.
Saw some PERFECT places to hang them at the Berkeley Marina area, where there is at least a mile of chain link fence seperating the freeway from a pedestrian sidewalk, along the Marina.
One could take a stroll with folded cardboard and bunjee chords in hand, quickly put up the sign, then go back to leisurely strolling, rollerblading and physical fitness!
I'll be doing that tomorrow..
One thing y'all must realize about this, NO ONE PAYS ATTENTION TO YOU when you're doing this. People saw me putting up the one on the Lucky Drive overpass and said and did nothing. Much like they probably would have if I were getting mugged.
Once you get over your initial reluctance, it's easy and FUN.
I'm now more enrgized than ever, especially with my new threads, the orange vest from PT, fresh from the Paris Freeways! Uh, I mean runways!
Thanks again, PT.
We have to do it again soon. With more of us on this list!
great stuff, PT ! do you know of any highway blogging in texas?
Sure, Weezie. You can check out the TexasFreewaybloggers at their Yahoo group here.
